Like humans, dogs need a complete and
well balanced diet. The ideal dog food contains low-fat, high fiber
ingredients. A dog's meal plan should be regulated closely since
they seem to have an endless capacity for food. Feeding twice a day,
limited amounts is a good general rule for feeding your dog. Your
veterinarian can recommend the correct , specific amounts for your dog.
Puppies or dogs less than one year old need
extra protein, calcium, and iron for their growing needs. Since puppies
are very active and take frequent naps, they require more nutrition than
an older dog. Feeding your puppy consistently two or three times
a day is a good method not only for developing routine eating patterns
but for their house training schedule as well.
Throughout your dog's life their nutritional
needs may vary or change. Keeping a good line of communication open
with your veterinarian is a helpful way to safely accommodate your pet's
changing dietary needs.
